I love the repetition in the first scene, where Richard turns out to have powers in the Underworld too and then the epic confrontation...

“You stole my life!” Richard cried, reaching for Rahl’s throat. He would choke him in his sleep, keep him from waking, from carrying on with this deception.

“You stole mine first!” Rahl retorted, and then he was gone, vanished, the dreamscape melting away.

Leaving Richard standing in the underworld, alone with his wrath.

And his tears.

The tension between the brothers is just so beautifully drawn - I love this.

Darken Rahl didn’t want to conquer Kahlan Amnell.

He wanted her to surrender herself to him.

This is just right.

She was Mord’Sith, and proud. She wouldn’t bow to a man she didn’t hold some regard for, Lord Rahl or not. Darken had a feeling all he need do was beckon, and Cara would be his.

Or rather, Richard’s.

The main conflict of the story...this is just so beautifully crafted.

Still, he wanted to slap her, wanted to hear ‘Darken’ on her lips. It was obscene, somehow, to ( ... )

Heeeeee so glad you liked the repitition! You know how I like ~meaningful~ repitition.

And yeeeeessss for liking the confrontation. That moment is the crux of the story's theme for me.

The name angst just kind of developed on its own, tbh. I don't know where it came from.

<33333333 So glad you're enjoying it and appreciate your comments! :D

“We’re connected. By fate, by the Keeper, or by the necromancer’s spell - it matters not. Whatever the cause, our spirits are bound together.” I love this!!!

AND LOL at Darken's earnest impersonations of Richard, because I can just picture how hard he has to work at it; he's also canny enough to use Richard's voice to tell them the truth, in a sense, about himself .

Darken's treatment of Panis was brutal, but I can't blame him; but then the contradictory action of asking his father's forgiveness afterward - so in-character.

Then Darken finally gets Kahlan - except he doesn't get her at all.

It was obscene, somehow, to forsake his name, when for so long it was all he had. Amazing.

But he was Richard now. Darken Rahl was dead.

And he was trying to be good. This sort of breaks my heart. I know Darken is such a devious bastard, but in his own way, he's trying, and maybe his motives aren't as clear as they were at first.

Looooool IKR. If this was a longer piece I'd have spent more time showing him work at it. XD

About Panis, see my comment in the part before to Twig. I actually know pretty much exactly how that encounter went, there just wasn't time to put it in the story.

Yeeeeeeesssss for breaking your heart! *rolls around in your broken heart pieces*

Thanks for the lovely comment bb!

After reading your comment to Twig about how Darken reaches his decision to kill Panis, it makes Darken's motivations even more understandable. I wish there would have been a way for your head!canon about Darken and Jennsen to have found its way into the fic, but I understand the time restraints you were under ( ... )

“You stole mine first!”

I like the alteration to canon and yet keeping to canon at the same time. That Rahl would totes killerate Panis (hehee, Panis), but then tell him that he forgives him. AHHHHHHHH. Rahl, you're so fucked up. And yes, he would totally want Kahlan's surrender. a;lfkdjfdj;aklfdj;lfdklaj;fdkaljfldk;jfdkl

And omg cries, Kahlan. If she ever found out... ;lajfdlksa;fjdlkasjfdl;sjalkfdsjl T_____________T

I love the repetition at the start of this part. And yes! Richard's raaaaaaaaaaage.

SLJDFSLDKFJ I WAS WAITING TO SEE YOUR REACTION TO THAT LINE XD XD XD

I KNOW. I don't show it as much as I wanted to, but in my head Darken!Richard and Kahlan have this really sweet relationship even though he's being all fucked up in his thoughts, and it makes me like OMG KAHLAN T_T when I think about her finding out >_>

Thanks for yet another great comment bb. <3
