After reading your comment to Twig about how Darken reaches his decision to kill Panis, it makes Darken's motivations even more understandable. I wish there would have been a way for your head!canon about Darken and Jennsen to have found its way into the fic, but I understand the time restraints you were under.

More reason to write a sequel - Yes?!?

For some reason, Darken "creeping" on Jennsen in Richard's body, because she was the only one that treated him with kindness makes me feel more sad than creeped out. (Maybe too much Game of Thrones).

In this situation I would love to think there is a way for Darken's mind and heart to eventually follow his outward actions - even though he would be fighting it all the way. That perhaps, like Cara, his companions and his new life with Zedd, Kahlan and Jennsen, maybe even a sense of growing guilt about Richard, would help induce that change.

You know I'm always a sucker for Darken-redemption, even though I never want him to lose his "Darkeness".

But the bottom line is that no matter how much Darken really may change for the better, he'll always be living a lie - a terrible lie - which is what makes the entire situation so tragic. What he did to Richard was so wrong - but I understand, and even sympathize, with why he did it.

LOL. I always wonder why, when I'm such a pessimist in rl, I'm always such a hopeful optimist when it comes to this particular character. It's really a mystery to me.
