Evie had been smirking at the sight of Pat and Aiden, but as soon as Riley spoke he got her full attention and she reached up a hand to push his hair back from his face before she kissed his cheek. "Not yet, sexy. Probably just as well. Can't imagine Pat or Aiden will be too happy getting interrupted. Plus I got a glimpse of Chase and his wife throwing a blanket over themselves. This flight is going to need a warning," she said with a soft laugh.
Her blue eyes fixed on his green and she stroked his cheek. "It shouldn't be much longer. You feeling okay?"
"How can planes feel sexy? I don't get it. They're small and cramped and turbulanty," Riley said with another glance at Pat and Aiden. "Pat must be checking Aiden for tonsilitis. I put ten bucks on it being Tara and Lachlan ruling the Mile High Club on this flight."
He nodded. "Yeah, I feel okay." He held up his packet of peanuts. "Do you really think these are peanuts? They don't look like peanuts."
"Small and cramped could just be intimate to some people," Evie replied as she smiled at him. "Well, he does have to be thorough. You can never be too careful with tonsillitis. Alright, it's a bet. I don't really mind losing the ten bucks. I'm just glad to see them happy."
Evie looked in the bag and stole one of the peanuts. "Yeah, they're peanuts. What else are they going to be?" She placed the nut tongue and kept her tongue out like she was offering it to Riley.
"Well, yes, Pat always was succinct in his nursing skills," Riley agreed, trying to stifle a snigger. "He's asleep!" he laughed, looking towards Tara and Lachlan again. "Oh, no he's not. Less than five minutes before she's dragging him to the nearest toilet."
Riley screwed his nose up. "I don't know. I always preferred my nuts on ice cream, anyway." He raised his eyebrows. "Or ice cream on my nuts?"
Riley's face fell into a frown and his eyes turned to his sister. There was no shaking a hurt irritation that Tab had failed to tell him while she was running around telling everyone else. He cleared his throat and kicked his backpack a little further under his feet, putting his head back against the seat. "That's nice."
Evie covered her mouth as she cursed her decision to tell Riley. Evidently she'd made things worse. "She didn't exactly tell me outright. I just guessed. You know what Tab can be like. She rambles and sometimes you just have to translate. She was talking about some rock she'd had to jump off."
"But she's clearly made a decision to be talking about it," Riley returned, wondering how much longer his knees were going to have to remain compacted up near his balls. He couldn't, for the life of him, remember how long the flight was supposed to be. Now he was just irritated, likely about to lead to a firm attempt to avoid his sister.
