Harri smiled softly as she cupped her hands around her coffee and gave a nod. "It is a relief, but I'm always going to worry about him. It's part of my being his best friend. You'll always worry about Pat because you're his brother. It's just the way it is. Still, I definitely do not want to be at the end of a bitchslap from Pat. Nor do I want Aiden to be." She shifted in her chair to cross her legs over and reached out to cover Cameron's hand with hers. "How are you feeling?"
Cameron laughed. "Well, if Pat bitchslapped him, he would kiss it better afterwards, no doubt." He had a small sip of his coffee and brushed his fingers against hers. "I'm tired, but it's cool. I've been worse than this. At least I should be able to sleep knowing our Pat and Lachlan are at least in good hands."
"So Pat will recover from this?" Harri asked him. She thought about Aiden's comment regarding Pat being made 'comfortable', but had enough tact not to repeat it to Cameron. Not that she really believed it had been because Pat was dying. "And Lachlan is receiving the proper treatment? Why do I get the feeling that with this group everything happens at once?"
"It does," Cameron agreed in amusement. "We have calm patches where everything is fine, then it all blows up at once and we bring in reinforcements. Lachlan is a disaster magnet of late. But he's a Scot. They were born to fight and come out with their heads held high. He's never been one to do things in halves. He used to end up in huge amounds of shit when we were teenager. He'll be fine in a few days. Just needs a good dose of TLC, which luckily us lot have in bucket loads
( ... )
Cameron nodded slowly. "I'll suggest that to him. Slim chances they'll get through the show without making out in the middle, though." He smirked. "All these selfish people being born in December," he laughed.
"At least they'll have had a change of scenery," Harri laughed. "Nothing wrong with a little public affection anyway. It'll give the audience something else to talk about."
"Except, Aiden will get the other side of Pat now. The self-conscious, almost timid side. He gets kind of fragile after this shit, especially if he lands in a wheelchair. His self-confidence goes down the pan. He realises how weak he actually is and how dependant he has to be on everyone. I didn't know if I should give Aiden a heads-up on this. I was a bit worried he might think he was the cause of Pat's change in demeanour," Cameron admitted, trying to think on the situation.
"I think you should. Just so Aiden knows he hasn't broken his boyfriend, or that Pat thinks Aiden can't handle anything." Harri's lips became a thin line as she also considered things. "He's never had to really worry about a long term relationship. At least not like this."
