Curious George wants to see...

Jan 05, 2007 03:03

It's seems old King George now wants the right to open our mail. (story)

I can't wait to be rid of this neanderthal. it's going to take years to undo the damage to our constitutional rights that he has done. We have lost liberties in the last few years that will will never see again. Talk about the slow fall of democracy!

More like the fast fall- He's made it so that the government can basically do anything it wants whenever it wants. They listen to our conversations, moniter our e-mails, spy on us at home.. nice to know that emocracy works in our favor, huh? Especially for a fella who shouldn't have been in office to start with!

Bah- I'm so glad he can't be re-elected for another term. Anyone's GOT to be better than Bush Jr!

True that. I was shocked the first time I opened a checking account and had to sign an anti-terrorism notice. That my information had to be forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security is mind-boggling. I kinda understand why my Grandma sleeps with $100,000 in her mattress. LOL

OMG- I never remember having to do anything like that at all up here when Justin and I opened our account. However, when I immigrated up here, I was advised that all my information (activities) would be shared with the US for something like 7 years- or until I became a canadian citizen.

But then again- Canadians are fairly lenient on the populus unless you've done something already. But- when I was in the US military, I was also informed that for the rest of my life, I would be monitered in case of terrorist activities, ect ect. Kind of eerie if you ask me!

Name one liberty we've lost that we didn't have before. Seriously. Politics frustrate me, Bush frustrates me (I want him out, too), but I want to know exactly what you're referring to.

The ability to make private phone calls. Privacy in checking out library materials. Completely private mail. And etc.

Phone call tapping only applies if you're suspected in the first place, when was this about library materials, and the mail thing hasn't even been confirmed if I read your link correctly.

According to Mr. Prez, though, he has the right to do it now whether they have proof of you doing something or not. There is no more privacy in the United States anymore, and unfourtunatly, it looks as though the rest of the world is following suite ( ... )
