Loss and heartache

There's this little Pentecostal girl at work, Becky. She sticks out because she's the only one who wears a skirt, in accordance with her religious beliefs. She not the brightest but is a hard worker and always does her job. Last night tho, just as she was leaving work, she found out that both of her parents had just been killed in a car wreck. To be honest with you, Nico, it depends on the person as to what you say. When my Uncle and my dad died, people were all over how sorry they were for me, when it wasn't what I was looking for. But then, I'm not an open person when it comes to my family ( ... )

I would like to point out that the one time I did really talk to her, I found out that she wore the skirt to please her parents moreso than because of her own beliefs. And I'm curious now to see, if she ends up with cousins who maybe are a little more lenient, if maybe things will change for her.

Not to say that she's glad they're gone by any stretch. I think everyone at work had the same opinion--yeah, we bitch about our parents, but that's still something we never want to go through.

Ken and Bri were talking about maybe taking up donations for her and getting, say, a Wal-Mart card with them. I'm wondering when the funeral is. I just really, really, really want to DO something for her.

My mom said that there was a flyer on the door at Harps about three kids whose parents were killed in a car wreck, and that they were taking donations to setup a trust fund. so it could be about her, or three other kids who have suffered the same tragedy.

No, that's them. Their family is of meager means. But it's good to see a community pull together to support someone in such unfortunate circumstances. A sort of civic pride and true community.
