It's all I ever postpostpost these days, no? After some mis-steps, I think I have found a good recipe. It's actually this one of Tyler Florence's from that old show Food 911 on Food Network. exblogger won't eat any green bean but a canned one.

I can find no fault with the man's position.

Rat's Stupid-Simple Green-Beans-From-A-Can-Don't-Suck Green Beans

1 super big can of green beans
1 bullion cube (veggie or beef)

Drain green beans, then rinse in cold water. Mix bullion cube with half the hot water that the "how to make broth" instructions call for. Dump it all in a pot, cook on medium-high with next-to-no stirring until broth boils off to a level that makes you happy.

You know, funnily enough, that's almost exactly what we do. I drain and rinse three times to get rid of some of the tinny flavor and then cook with store-bought beef or chicken stock with some garlic pepper in it. They're not bad. I just like fresh ones with a little bit of crunch to them. I alone in my home am a fan of crunch.

Put me in the canned green beans only camp.

We tried a casserole with some "fresh" ones the other day. Bleh.

I like the fresh ones lightly blanched and mixed in a salad with fresh corn kernels, ripe tomatoes, blue cheese, and a light vinaigrette. Or, more often, nuked for a minute or so and then just put in my regular romaine-cherry tomato-cucumber salad.
