I'm falling apart

Feb 23, 2012 18:03

I suddenly feel as if my warranty is running out on my body or something. I go to the dentist who tells me I'll likely need a crown on a tooth this year because it's cracking. Then my glasses break (thankfully I have my backup pair until I get them fixed). Tomorrow I go to a foot-doctor because I apparently now will need orthotic inserts in my ( Read more... )

wear glasses-legally blind without 'em.
hearing aids - eh? what was that? speak up honey!
prosthesis - survivors have 'em...
lots of crowns & fillings
spinal fusion.
Not bionic yet, but getting there.

I've a friend who just recently got her first hearing aid and was so happy about it - she said "I can hear the birds sing again!" I admit there could be some distinct advantages in being able to have a volume button on the world, there are times I'd like to turn it down.

A volume button would be cool. Next time I think I'll get hearing aids like that. But is nice to be able to turn the sound off completely just by putting the hearing aids away.

Goodness, I know how that goes.

My knees, back and stomach are a mess, and although my asthma is mostly under control, it's still there.

Some days I feel twice my age, and I have to remind myself that 33 is not that old!

Knees do seem to be a weak point in the whole thing, don't they? And yes! There are days I feel positively ancient, though I guess I should be glad that's not every day (yet).

This is the place to grumble!

In the past year I've noticed so many new "old" signs... hand freckling, more stiff and sore when I get out of bed in the morning, MANY more gray hairs... and yet my skin still breaks out like a 16-year-old's. *sigh*

*empathetic hugs*

My lifelong persistent acne has FINALLY started to abate -- now that I'm almost through menopause!

Best of luck with yours -- I hope it eases up without you needing ten years of hot flashes first!

My most recent crown wasn't done right, and will have to be redone -- I think the root canal left some live bits in there, and they're still hurty ( ... )

Hee! Feel free to check out my journal if you like . . . I don't think I've seen you around there yet! All my icons are snurchable with credit.

Another progressive bifocal person here - took forever to get used to them, I felt like I was on a carnival ride every time I tried to move around for a while.

Yup, I'm another person trying to be grateful that it isn't worse (goodness knows we all know people who have it worse!), but part of me rebels against the idea that unless it hits a certain point on the Problem-O-Meter you aren't allowed to say anything at all too.

OK. I'll jump in here -

Almost ready for dentures
Asthma
Arthritis
Fibromyalgia
IBS
Interstitial Cystitis
Lactose intolerance
Sunflower allergy
Tri-focals

Lactose intolerance and sunflower allergy are the worst. I never eat out anymore because I can't be sure what is in the food. Most processed foods have lactose, and many have switched from vegetable oil to sunflower oil. I am having to learn to cook ! I bake all my own bread, and cook everything from scratch.

Gray hair ? My hair started to gray when I was in my thirties. It is silver white now, and I love it ! Age spots, boobs to my knees, new wrinkles every day, need to loose 20 pounds... I have arrived :)

But - I can still do everything I have always done - play piano, needlework, gardening, chores, errands. I just move slower these days, and I am thankful I am still able to do what I love.

Oy vey, yeah - any allergy to something that's a common ingredient is a royal pain... I've a friend who has to steer around peanuts, soy, eggs and cinnamon - sometimes it feels like we can't find anything at all she can eat when we're out and about. Just think of all the healthy things you're making as a result, right?

I love your silver-white hair - it's beeeeyoootiful!

I'll bet your friend has to read every single label too. When I am out and about, the only thing I feel safe to eat is a Coke. You are right about cooking, especially breads. Just the basic ingredients without preservatives.

Thanks for the compliment ! My hair was almost black when I was young. When I was in my twenties, I actually bleached it for a couple years to just about the same color it is now.
