Well, I did want to make sure we had enough to feed everyone yesterday, you know...but I think I might have overestimated a bit.

[OOC: And if you want to assume the poets were invited to yesterday's much-handwaved dinner at the Warehouse, be my guest. o/]

It's just always so hard to tell if we'll need one pie or two--or, er, four--and in any case, it's better to have too much than not enough, isn't it?

[OOC: Prepare to be stuffed full of leftovers, Todd. ♥]

[ seriously ] Are you really just going to give all those pies and cookies away?

[ and why would you need to look at the ceiling? ]

Well, yes! After all, it's better than seeing them go to waste, isn't it? And I certainly can't eat them all myself.

...Or, er, well...I could, but I'd end up with a terrible stomachache for my troubles, I'm sure.

[ he wishes he could commiserate, but a certain someone of his acquaintance hardly leaves enough on the table to keep him from starving. ]

Ah, no. I wouldn't wish that on a lady such as yourself. [ he flashes a weak smile ] Perhaps there's a charity you could donate to? Or you could sell each one for a modest price as well. A little something to recover the price of materials at the very least.

I myself would be more then happy to pay for a few of the deserts.

There is the Welcome Center, and I think I'll likely end up taking some of it over there--for the new arrivals, you know, since it's hard enough ending up here as it is without having to do it on an empty stomach, besides.

Oh, but there's really no need to pay for them! I'm more than happy to share, and really, knowing they're going to someone who won't let them go to waste is repayment enough. Which ones would you like?

Do you really have that much left?

Honestly, if I didn't know better, I'd think they were multiplying while I wasn't looking.

Maybe you've got an enchanted oven or something?

It's certainly a very nice one! Goodness knows I likely wouldn't be able to bake nearly so much if I had to do it the way we do at home. Which, er, might be some of the reason why I always end up making too much, come to think of it.

You and Todd weren't the ones who brought the cakepies, though, were you?

The ceiling?

Oh, er, yes, the ceiling. It's something of a tradition, you see, not to look at it--especially so around this time of year.

[ There's a pause. ] Why's that?

Well, it's a rather silly story, actually, but, um. One year at Thanksgiving my best friend and I, er, had a bit of a mishap with a can of cranberry sauce and the stove and, well, we were mostly sure we got all of it cleaned up, all except for the ceiling, and neither of us wanted to see for certain if we had.

So we just, er, decided that whoever looked first would be the one who had to clean it up, and since then we've simply...never looked.

You've that much left over?

I'm afraid so. I got to thinking while I was baking again and the next thing I knew I had settled nerves at the expense of a counter full of pies.

At least your nerves were improved.

But may I ask what unsettled them so?

I don't know, really. Just an odd feeling, I suppose. I don't know if it's just that I'm getting a bit complacent or if the curses have been mostly harmless lately or if it's the time of year or...well, I don't know for certain, but I just feel odd, and it's making me a bit restless.
