Suppose they've a schedule, Rosella, and the curses were put aside until the sheep were handled. Even the 'deities' seemed quite busy with them. But once those sheep were handled, the schedule of curses had to be adhered to again, which meant that we had to be cursed immediately after. This past week had nothing to do with curses, as wretched as it was.
You know I've toyed with the idea of there being a grander structure or pattern to the curses.
If they have, then I don't see why they couldn't have amended it to take this past week into consideration. Perhaps they didn't plan for all that trouble, but I'm certain they still reaped the benefits of it, just the same. Assuming the clock really does run on our misery, that is.
It really does seem there is no rest in this city, doesn't it, Miss Rosella? I fear I've already had quite enough of curses, and I've hardly been here long at all.
