Connor would laugh to see her now. He can talk. He might not phone his mother every Sunday, but he's always around to take her calls.
Probably because he hasn't got a life.
Abby loves her mum just as much, which is probably why she's doing this.
"Oh, you look lovely, pet. It really suits you."
Abby smoothes one hand down her skirt self-consciously and gives her mum an awkward smile. Abby's more comfortable in jeans - they're practical, given what she does - but her mum isn't and her mum always wanted a girl.
Wearing a dress occasionally won't kill her.
