So it is totally time for catbrownie-inspired art projects! Tetu gives a brief spiel about things like color, perspective, composition--but mostly he just wants to see what people come up with based on their catbrownie experiences, without influencing them too much. There's all kinds of materials and media available. "...And if there's something ( Read more... )

Courtney is thinking less about the catbrownie experience than her earlier cat experience in her own woods, and how everything looked so big and bright. She ends up doodling giant tree roots on newsprint, trying to decide what she actually wants to draw or paint as a project.

Tetu is doing his usual ambling-around-the-room thing, checking out people's work, ready to field any questions. The tree roots get a bit of a second glance: they aren't from the art room.

"From the woods. I was a cat once before." Courtney explains absently, trying to draw a stag beetle. It's shaped right, but the perspective's pretty whacked.

"Ahhh, cool." He studies the stag beetle with interest. "Yeah, I wish we could have let kids explore the grounds more, but...what with the kraken, and I dunno if there's coyotes or anything..."

Savannah is working on an odd painting of a wide expanse of floor, and a few cat toys, each with a psychadellic halo of color around them. Someone got into the catnip.

Tetu bobs his head, a happy nod. "Far out, Savannah!"

Norman considers all of this, for a few minutes after Tetu finishes. Then he gets up, and fetches a large bottle of red tempera paint. And he squirts a large glob of it into the centre of a piece of poster-paper, and with sharp, clawing motions, he smears it about with his hands into an fierce, angry shape.

This is where Tetu begins an internal debate about nudging the guidance counselor over Norman's way! For the moment, though, it's entirely internal. He's just doing his usual ambling and checking-out. "Wow, that's very vivid."

The little Osborn ignores him, or just doesn't hear him, biting his lip as he shifts his focus, wiping his hands on his pants and grabbing for whatever other colours of paint are conventient and edging the bright gashes of red with these other shades.

He steps away for a moment and comes back with an old shirt and some paper towels. "Norman? You want to wear a smock, maybe?"

((Hrm! Tetu is now sufficiently Worried About Norman that he really does want to ask Lorne to talk to him, but I don't know whether you and Lorne-mun would have any interest, or...*flails*))
