Cat Art (combined, both classes)

So it is totally time for catbrownie-inspired art projects! Tetu gives a brief spiel about things like color, perspective, composition--but mostly he just wants to see what people come up with based on their catbrownie experiences, without influencing them too much. There's all kinds of materials and media available. "...And if there's something ( Read more... )

Norman considers all of this, for a few minutes after Tetu finishes. Then he gets up, and fetches a large bottle of red tempera paint. And he squirts a large glob of it into the centre of a piece of poster-paper, and with sharp, clawing motions, he smears it about with his hands into an fierce, angry shape.

This is where Tetu begins an internal debate about nudging the guidance counselor over Norman's way! For the moment, though, it's entirely internal. He's just doing his usual ambling and checking-out. "Wow, that's very vivid."

The little Osborn ignores him, or just doesn't hear him, biting his lip as he shifts his focus, wiping his hands on his pants and grabbing for whatever other colours of paint are conventient and edging the bright gashes of red with these other shades.

He steps away for a moment and comes back with an old shirt and some paper towels. "Norman? You want to wear a smock, maybe?"

((Hrm! Tetu is now sufficiently Worried About Norman that he really does want to ask Lorne to talk to him, but I don't know whether you and Lorne-mun would have any interest, or...*flails*))

"Nah." Paint is srs bizness. :| ...and all over his pants.

((Please feel free! I know I'd be interested in someone trying to help the poor kid out.))

Heh. Tetu rubs the back of his neck, and considers. Most of his own clothing has various colored splatters on it; but then, it's not like his parents-or-legal-guardians are going to complain to the school when he comes home all grubby. "Well, you're getting kinda painty there, and I don't want you sticking to your chair. Your call, though. I've got some paper towels for you."

He wasn't kidding when he said Norman's project is "vivid."

((Coolness! I'll have Tetu make noises at Lorne tomorrow or somesuch.))

Norman frowns, but just vaguely. Towels would be... okay. He nods, and reaches up to grab a handful. "Thank you, sir."

"You're welcome." He drapes the smock over the back of a nearby chair. "So what did you think about the whole cat thing? I want to know if I should do it again next year."

He frowns, down at the paper and not looking up at Tetu. "I didn't like it, sir."

Tetu nods. "I thought maybe you didn't. Can I ask what you didn't like?"

"I was small. And weak. And I couldn't think right."

"Hmm. That's true." He sits in the chair with the smock over it, not wanting to be all looming. "For a lot of people that can be sort of...liberating, I guess? Thinking differently from usual, I mean. But it's not everyone's thing, I know. Was there anything about being a cat that you liked?"

The boy considers this, for a moment. "...having claws?"

Really, Mr. Tetu, you should have seen that one coming.

Tetu laughs a little. "Heh, yeah. That seemed like it was a big hit."
