I honestly, actually, would prefer this to mateship. I've been burned so hard, I'm convinced that mateship all too easily means senseless jealousy, hurt, "obligated love" where people hide their feelings to avoid hurting each other (which of course hurts worse), and the opportunity for sex to be used as a bargaining chit or false affection.

I mean it's nice and all if it didn't seem like such a cheap illusion.

*HUg* I'm glad you're happy and I would never seek to push mateship on you when it seems so hurtful in your case. But I WILL Say that it doesnt have to be that way. Trust, love, and communication do happen. I wouldnt have t hought so either until I got with joe.
