It's a little over a week after their return to life, and Fabian Prewett and Nymphadora Tonks Lupin are preparing to break into the Ministry of Magic

Tonks shrugs one shoulder, considerably broader than she's used to. "If not getting hired as an Auror is all that happens, you'd probably be lucky," she says in a low voice. "I'm not saying Azkaban's in our future, but... Let's just not get caught, eh?"
They stop in front of the lifts, and someone getting out gives a nod to Tonks, who jerks her head awkwardly back in greeting.
"--I know him," she says to Fabian, as the elevator doors close behind them. "Belleflore -- Adrian or Adonis or...something like that, he was working in the Magical Law Enforcement office when I was an Auror. And," in a brighter voice, "he didn't look suspicious of us at all."
Fabian chuckles quietly under his breath, shooting her an amused look; it's difficult to at all see Tonks herself in the disguise, but her tone hasn't changed one bit. "That's because you look exactly like somebody else and I'm a brilliant wizard," he replies, a bit wryly. "There's nothing suspicious about us -- yet." With that cheerful thought, he punches the number nine and leans back against the wall, taking the brief moment to gather some more energy.
"Oh, sure, you get to be the brilliant one," Tonks returns, mock-huffily. "He could still have suspected something -- maybe you're not as marvelous as you think. Or he could've asked why I only nodded, when I always stop and ask him about his family. Or a million things. I'm just trying to be optimistic, right?"
"You were born that way," Fabian points out, though he's grinning by now (and mostly joking; he still finds the Metamorphmagus thing pretty impressive), "whereas I've had to learn everything I know. And I am exactly as marvelous as I think, thank you, but the optimism's certainly appreciated. Hang on to that, yeah?"
And with that, the lift stops and the doors open, informing them that they've arrived at the Department of Mysteries. Fabian takes a surreptitious deep breath and inclines his head down the hallway. "After you, sir."
