And he remembers the chains and the stains of blood and the smell of death and disease and sour rum on the ship. He remembers the Spanish words. Ricardo, Ricardo, que haces? He holds his sister in his arms and hears her choking on blood and watches her die. So he kills the man who did this to her. And his mother hates him for it because his father has long since left them so now she is alone. (she is this way because of jacob)
The ship ends up in the jungle and he's not sure how. The men from the boat try and keep the prisoners at bay, but they are among murderers and madmen. Ricardo has killed. He lives off the island with them until, one day, they are all gone. (they are this way because of jacob)
I <3 that part so much, but could I ask for clarification. Did Richard kill his father, was it his father's fault that his sister died? What exactly happened to his mother? Richard is definitely one of the prisoners on the ship, right? And he lived with those prisoners on the Island until he was the only one left ( ... )

Did he pull the trigger? Maybe. Maybe not. Would it matter if he did? Could he shoot himself and get up and keep going on with life? I don't really know. I think I wrote it assuming he pulled the trigger, but I suppose it's vague enough to leave it open. Maybe he didn't.
OMG a comment that asks questions. :D This is great. Glad you read it and were curious. Even more glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, this backstory you have for Richard is ;O;
...Though hey, I've given him a sister too in one of my origin plotbunnies for him! Don't know if that fic will ever see the light of day soon, but maybe.
Well, I assumed he pulled the trigger too, and I'm actually sticking with that interpretation. But it is rather open for other possibilities, and that's cool too.

XD I enjoy getting comments and questions on my fic too. This fic was such a good read, and I had to ask, since I wanted to understand--so pleased you obliged.
