Izze was inquiring about sizes of shoes the other day. We had been talking about how her feet grew and she's now in size 7 shoes and we're going to get rid of her size 6's ( Read more... )

yeah we're not too eastery here either. i mainly like it because its the time of year when Cream Eggs come out and they're one of the only candies I can actually eat now! love them in all their gut-rot glory.

We're non-religious also and have been approaching Spring/Easter in the same way you mentioned - talking about the changing of the season, being born, baby animals, not eating them.

I got the kids some vegan candy for their baskets and aside from that their baskets will have books, a wooden puzzle to paint, and maybe a small Lego set. I don't see the need for a bunch of crap they won't care about after the day.

Where did you order your candy? I got Izze some marshmallow chicks from Food Fight. There's a lady here who makes vegan baskets... but they're kind of crap.

I got their candy from veganstore.com. I got a chocolate bunny (lol the irony), some vanilla creme eggs, chocolate eggs, and mint chocolate coins. The bunny will go in their basket, along with some big vegan cookies I already got, and the smaller candy will go in plastic eggs outside for an egg hunt.

The kids don't get candy outside of holidays so I probably go a little overboard?

Let me know before you get rid of Izze's size 6 shoes! Elysa wears a 6 and I don't really see that changing any time soon - she had plenty of room in them.

I'm not Christian either (Daniel is, but he doesn't really practice), so for us, Easter is about bunnies, eggs, and candy. LOL. And Christmas is about Santa, gifts, and being with family. I don't really see the point in pretending that I celebrate the religious aspect of the holidays, but I also don't want to miss out on the fun that goes along with them. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but I don't care.

We had a cold, rainy day yesterday and they were talking about a possibility of snow showers. Luckily it didn't happen. Our temps are still all over the place (anywhere from the 40s to low 70s), but I think it's safe to say that the snow is over for us.

I think we already sold most of them... didn't I sell you some even?!!? I can't remember. We're doing a huge consignment sale this weekend and next weekend. But if I have any 6's I think you'd like I'll pull them out.

Your weather sounds like our weather. We walked to gymnastics yesterday and since I wrote this entry there is no snow on the ground and it's super sunny. We'll probably be walking to preschool!

it makes me laugh that izze is just now getting into a size 7 shoe, just because the little girl i nanny for is gigantic for her age..she's already in 7's, and she's not even 2 yet! it's so crazy.

i really like your ideas on how to make easter a vegan holiday to suit your family's beliefs - and of course any excuse to spoil izze is a good one!

Izze is little for age. She's a shorty with little feet. I'm pretty short too though, I'm 5'2 and Jeremy is only 5'9. It's not like we're expecting Izze to be a giant.

I think you're approaching Easter how I've wanted to (and we are Christian - we don't celebrate either Easter or Christmas in a religious way).
