Toxoplasmosis -- positive screen
Hi.
I just got a call from my midwife saying my toxoplasmosis screen came back positive, for both historic and recent infection. They're sending me to a high-risk specialist Tuesday; he'll redo the test because he said he's had problems with false positives from that lab.
I live with two cats, but I haven't handled their litter since I found out I was pregnant, and neither of them has been outside since we got them. But one was a barn kitten and the other spent some time as a stray, so it's possible they picked up the infection when they were younger.
Has anyone else had a positive toxoplasmosis test? What happened to the pregnancy (and the baby)? It looks like there's a good chance the infection wouldn't have passed to the baby, so I'm trying not to worry too much about this.
