This happened to me ALL the time when I was pregnant with my first and it only happened to me while I was pregnant....not outside of pregnancy...I did later on in the pregnancy get diagnosed with pre eclampsia which is high BP during pregnancy.

I've never, ever fainted in my life. I feel so sorry for people who faint all the time now!

My blood pressures been higher for my doing as I've always been on the low end but
it's not bad high, you know? It's more my heart rate giving me some hell right now.

I don't know. It's been so smooth so far. I hope nothing ugly rears it's head now like it's done with
most pregnant women in my family.

Yes - with my first I would get dizzy and feel like fainting in the shower. My heart would start racing, I couldn't breath and at least once I remember I ended up crouched on the bathroom floor waiting for the feeling to pass. My bp was always normal, my sugar was fine, I passed the GTT one the first try, my baby was fine and I didn't have pre eclampsia.

Its interesting that you are 22 weeks. I remember feeling dizzy all the time at 22 weeks and I called my OB too. They suggested it was common and told me not to worry. They didn't really have an answer for why, but they told me to just eat more complex carbs so my blood sugar would stay up and its seemed to help. Hang in there!

Sounds kinda like a sudden hypotension issue or vagal response since it happened so suddenly. With hypotension, your heart rate will increase to keep blood flow to the body/organs the same. Pregnant women are typically prone to hypotension during pregnancy (unless you're one of the lucky pregnancy induced hypertension/pre-e people like me). Keep drinking a lot of fluid to keep your blood volume up. That will help some too. And if you have an at home blood pressure machine, monitor your numbers. Especially if you feel symptomatic, grab the machine and see what it is. Take and record you resting heart rate at various times of the day, and when/if you're symptomatic. When you record them, or have symptoms, write down the numbers, and what you were doing before/at the time of the event. The numbers/timeline will help doctors pinpoint what's going wrong if it is something. I've had to use those records before both during and after pregnancy. So I know the records help.

The way you worded your description of what happened sounds EXACTLY like what would happen with me when I'd have low blood sugars. Like absolutely EXACTLY. It's also suspicious that this happened right after eating really sweet cake (fast acting carbs/sugar). If you have access to a blood glucose monitor, it'd be interesting to take your number right at the time this is occurring. Good luck. I hope you figure it out. That's pretty scary.

this happened to me all the time in my first pregnancy, and has happened a few times during this one. Also, my sister, who's also pregnant right now, has had 2 episodes of this, her first at 15 wks ( ... )
