Bedrest + Pelvic Rest = Complete Misery

Mar 10, 2012 18:12

I have been put on bedrest and pelvic rest indefinitely and I am completely miserable.

Cut for TMI, potential offense, and generalized rantyness )

You're right, it's not fair. And it sucks. But hopefully since you know right now, your strict bedrest will allow your baby to continue growing until 30+ weeks at a minimum.

At your next doctors appointment (maybe make one sooner if need be?) speak to your doctor about depression. Maybe there is something that you can take to help you through to encourage you to keep pushing forward.

I know this is hard, really hard, but it won't last forever. It's hard to think that when you're confined to such a small area, but say it to yourself over and over and over until you believe it. It won't last forever. It won't last forever. It won't last forever. It won't be like this forever. It won't be like this forever. It's probably nicer being stuck on strict bedrest at home, versus strict bedrest at the hospital, as well. I know it's so hard right now, but try to see the positives through the negatives.

Sending you best wishes - I really hope that it gets easier for you. Hang on tight mama!

I know the feeling. With my now 19 month old I was put on strict bedrest, pelvic rest & cerclage at around 23wks. They didn't think I was even going to make it past my 7 month. I was recieving steroid shots because again at 31wks they thought he was coming because of the contractions & incomptent cervix. I made it to 36wks finally & was told I could be off of bedrest/pelvic rest because it was a gift to all moms. I was going to the dr weekly as of 23wks too. My son was here exactly 37wks 1 day. I was in labor with him at 37wks. My dr to this day says he was a miracle child being as close to term as he was due to all my problems. I would talk to the dr about your depression. I just wanted you to know that there is hope.

hang in there! my mom spent her entire pregnancy with me on bed rest in a public Soviet hospital, sharing a room with a whole bunch of people, no privacy, no real shower facilities, and no male visitors. it was awful, but she always felt it was worth it. and then she went on to have a normal second pregnancy with my younger sister.

she always said that whatever happens is for the best, even though some very shitty things happened to her in particular.

good luck and stay strong!

I can't speak to most of the issues you've been having except for the depression, but I want to encourage you that there are absolutely options for you during pregnancy to help with depression. I was struggling with severe depression until a few weeks ago and my depression and inability to control my temper nearly ruined my marriage and my relationship with my toddler. It was literally the difference between one day and the next when I started taking something for it, and now I feel a lot better and more in control. Granted, the other things about your situation won't be made easier by medication, but I did want to share that there are options that are relatively safe for pregnancy and it made a big difference in my life.

Oh momma, been there, done that and yeah, it sucks. You just need to take this time to keep reflecting on the positive aspects. You're not alone. You have support. I nearly lost my mind on bedrest. I agree with the above poster, speak to your OB. There may be something to help in the short term.

Take care momma. It is tough to be all go, go, go and then have something derail your life on top of your fears over the pregnancy. If nothing else, there are lots of support groups online for bedrest mommas.
