My doctor advised me not to because I had a miscarriage last october and it's all high impact where I'm able to go and I'm already very breathless and get stabbing pains when I bend or whichever. Plus the fact that none of the Zumba instructors want to give lessons to pregnant women.
Okay, makes sense. It's been quite some time since I was pregnant (five years) and all I remember doing was continuing on with my current exercise before ended up on the couch permanently for two months when "morning" sickness kicked my ass.
Maybe the best thing to do is just keep up with healthy food choices and the walking. Good luck!
I've tried asking, but I'll try again and contact one of the ladies again. I'm not really sure as to how I can make it low impact and I don't want to do anything stupid.
I went to Zumba during pregnancy but just made everything low-impact. Sure, I looked silly but I still had fun and got my heart rate up. I also kept going to hip-hop and body pump classes, just modified everything. There are lots of prenatal exercise dvds out there too. I'm sorry you can't swim- that was my go-to exercise during pregnancy because it felt so good to float! I know it's frustrating but there is still so much exercise out there for you!
This! I went to zumba until I was 35 weeks (I'm 37 weeks now). After my first trimester, I modified everything - always kept one foot on the floor, so it was low impact. If I got breathless, I'd go sit out a song, catch my breath, and then come back and start again. (I usually would make it until about the fourth song, sit out the fifth, and then be good for the rest of class.)
A good instructor will also work with you to modify stuff. Sometimes, it ended up with me just bouncing up and down looking really silly, but it worked. I only gained 20 lbs this pregnancy and still feel like I'm in pretty good shape for my birth.
Maybe talk to your doctor and ask him/her if it's ok to go if you go low impact?
Otherwise, if you belong to a gym, can you go ride an exercise bike? I see lots of pregnant women at my gym doing that.
I missed a good 6-8 week spell during my first trimester while I had really bad morning sickness. It's awful feeling slug-like.
As for modifying, it's pretty easy. Here's what I did: Anything where you jump with both feet, I just sort of bounced instead. Anything where you jump with one foot, just march in place instead Anything with a sidestep that's jumpy (like salsa, for example), just step and always keep one foot on the ground
Otherwise, just listen to your body - you know it best! If you're having trouble with cramps, make sure you're properly hydrated - I always got really cramped up if I didn't hydrate properly. And don't be afraid to sit out a song or go slower if you need to.
I can sympathize. I was lifting weights until about a month before I got pregnant. Had I not had to stop, I coulda gone on for a while afterward, but extenuating circumstances. Man, I missed it. Especially when my back went kerflooey.
I did a lot of shopping. It wasn't much exercising, but strolling was all I could really manage with my crappy joints and pelvic pain. You could also always try the Walk Away the Pounds stuff. IIRC, the one mile one I had a few years back is pretty low impact. It's basically marching in place with a few moves thrown in, like kicks, kick backs and side steps.

It's the one exercise I found that I just absolutely adore.
And I feel as I'm already overweight, I just cannot sit around like this.
