I can have that even when I'm not pregnant if it's been a long time or if we've had it several times in a short amount of time. Is it stinging around the outside, around the entrance? Sometimes you can be plenty wet inside and not enough around the entrance/lip area, which can get pulled on and be painful. I'd let it all rest and try again tonight or tomorrow.

It felt irritated from the entrance farther inside. I couldn't pinpoint it really, it was just really uncomfortable, and I've never had that happen, not since my very first time. Maybe we'll get some lubricant and put a little on the outside lip and try again. It feels better now though.

Like the first commenter, I've had that sensation when it has been a while, pregnant or not. Even though sex can be very enjoyable the second half of pregnancy, it just feels different, and sometimes different approaches (sometimes quite literally) are needed to make it work well. And this can keep up after the pregnancy, too. Once you're feeling up to it again, maybe try some more positions. I mean, there is a chance there was a mild not-yet-diagnosed UTI or something that flared up, but probably not! Good luck next time around, and I'm glad it doesn't sound like it was all bad.

Can I just say that I could have written the original post, except that I am now at 32 weeks. My husband and I tried and tried having sex since about 22 weeks and it was that same pain and nothing made any difference. I felt horrible but there was literally nothing I could do. At 30 weeks I had pre-term labor so now I am on bedrest with no sex until 6 weeks postpartum, it sucks but I have to sadly admit I am kind of relieved to not be feeling the guilt of asking him to stop mid-intercourse.

This was happening to me, and I looked into it. I think for us, the cause was swelling that can happen inside the vagina during the 2-3rd trimester. I was always "ready" too, but it still was uncomfortable almost to the point of pain, and afterward, would continue to hurt. For my husband and I what finally worked was a combination of using lube anyway, extra foreplay and a new position.

Yeast infections cause micro-abrasions on the labia. When I get them I get that feeling like I have little cuts all over, and sometimes even get larger visible splits. What kind of treatment are you getting for them?

The swelling from pregnancy could be contributing to this as well.

What do you use to treat yeast infections now? I don't get them as frequently as you do, but if antibiotics even look funny at my vagina I get a yeast infection and sometimes they just crop up on their own. I had a ridiculous one that started up on a two week vacation with my first pregnancy. I tried a 3-day treatment and then a 7-day treatment and it just got worse and worse. I finally got to see my doctor when I got home (why it didn't occur to me to see my mothers doctor, I don't know) and she said they recommend pregnant women always see their doctors for YIs and that they use a prescription 7-day cream rather than faster-acting or OTC creams. Now they're all I'll use, even not pregnant. I've never liked OTC creams anyway because they burn. I used to use Diflucan or 3-day creams because 7-day creams interfered too much with my love life; not as much an issue to me now. By the time I got in to see my doctor the YI had spread everywhere, even to my butt ( ... )
