Yeast infections cause micro-abrasions on the labia. When I get them I get that feeling like I have little cuts all over, and sometimes even get larger visible splits. What kind of treatment are you getting for them?

The swelling from pregnancy could be contributing to this as well.

What do you use to treat yeast infections now? I don't get them as frequently as you do, but if antibiotics even look funny at my vagina I get a yeast infection and sometimes they just crop up on their own. I had a ridiculous one that started up on a two week vacation with my first pregnancy. I tried a 3-day treatment and then a 7-day treatment and it just got worse and worse. I finally got to see my doctor when I got home (why it didn't occur to me to see my mothers doctor, I don't know) and she said they recommend pregnant women always see their doctors for YIs and that they use a prescription 7-day cream rather than faster-acting or OTC creams. Now they're all I'll use, even not pregnant. I've never liked OTC creams anyway because they burn. I used to use Diflucan or 3-day creams because 7-day creams interfered too much with my love life; not as much an issue to me now. By the time I got in to see my doctor the YI had spread everywhere, even to my butt ( ... )

Welcome! :) The itchy-butt could also be caused by hemorrhoids.

That sounds a lot like Vulvar Vestibulitis. I would ask your doctor about it

(Apologies for lateness of response...been reading back entries about pain during sex.)

One thing that got me thinking is that you say you have frequent yeast infections. If you're having vulvar vestibulitis/vulvodynia, you may want to see if you have whitish, shiny patches anywhere on the membranes of your vulva, perineum, or anus. If so, I would ask your GYN about something called lichen sclerosus. I have a mild case of it myself, though, interestingly, it seems to have calmed down somewhat during pregnancy. Positive diagnosis may require a biopsy, or you may find someone willing to make an empirical diagnosis. Either way, it is treatable with steroidal cream or ointment, though you'd want to be careful because overuse will also cause thinning of the skin over time (not something you want to have happen when you're going to be pushing a small human out of your vagina!). I normally use triamcinolone, but the dermatologist said to use hydrocortisone cream during pregnancy, so I've used that a few times when the itching and tenderness ( ... )

Oh! Another thing: Someone else above suggested using lube without glycerin. I've found that many lubes contain something else that I find irritating, which is propylene glycol. Silicone lube is pretty much the only kind I can use that doesn't make me feel burny during sex. Nonoxynol-9 also burns, so I avoid that as well. I've actually found silicone lube (Wet brand) in CVS, but you can also easily order some online from Good Vibrations or any such boutique.
