When is a good time to start looking for and contacting Doulas?

Im 18 weeks tomorrow and an overplanner so I really want to start contacting the three that are in my area but hubby feels like Im rushing into it as they are not health care providers.

IMO the sooner the better as I'm sure they don't take on anymore clients they can handle. Your intuition on this is spot on, happy interviewing :)

I'm a doula (still in the process of getting my certification), and I have a mom that's not due until December! If you're eager to find one now, there's nothing wrong with calling and getting a feel for the ones in your area. :)

In some cities you should contact them the day you get pregnant, and in other cities you can contact them 30 weeks later....

I think you should contact them now because a lot of them only go with 2 due dates per month.

It definitely doesn't hurt to start contacting them - probably the sooner the better.

I didn't think I wanted a doula and then really enjoyed my lamaze class instructor (she came to our house for the class). I felt comfortable with her and found out she was a doula as well. Literally, 10 minutes ago, I booked her for my birth.. luckily she's available since I'm already 35 weeks along.

I'd start sooner rather then later because they do start getting booked up in advance.

Where are you located, if you dont mind my asking?
