Finishing Up

I just had my baby shower on Sunday and got almost everything I needed/wanted. I did not get a diaper bag and after looking at them to buy for myself I've started to wonder: If I'm going to EBF do I REALLY need one? I tend to like extra large purses so is there any reason I couldn't just get something like one of these and not have a "real" diaper

You could try it, and if it doesn't work out, buy a diaper bag later.

I always had:

8 diapers
wipes
2 changes of clothes, including socks
change of shirt for me
spit up rags
diaper cream
pacifiers
breast pads
toys
nail clippers
tylenol
teething tablets
bibs
changing pad

And that's just for a newborn. When they get older other things get added. (Spoons, baby food, snacks, bandaids, crayons, toys, sunglasses/gloves...)

You could get that, but you could always just throw a small portable changing pad in your purse. The only issue might be that once you get everything in there (extra clothes, diapers, toys, etc.), your purse might be too full. Not to mention if your BFing you should back yourself some nutritious snacks.

i got real diaper bags and they all fell apart. we use totes now. not the cheapo $1 ones at the grocery store, but the nice canvas ones... or beach bags. much more durable, imo.

I used to use a large tote when I watched a friend's 3yr old. It was nice. Held all my stuff plus had room for his toys, snacks and colors.

I'm using an old backpack. 0 € invested, hands free - a necessity, since sometimes I don't bother to wear DS if I have to run errands, but I just carry him in my arms - no additional strap that slips off my shoulders and big enough for

diapers
change of clothes
bib
protective cream
changing pad
wipes
teething thing

I'm contemplating ditching my purse for a time being and just throw my cell, wallet, tissues and keys in the backpack, too.

My son wasEBF until 18 months and I find that I need a bag for him now at 2.5 way more than I did when he was an infant. I usually just put a few diapers and wipes in my purse. Had extra clothes in the car.
