I posted a little while back that my current Dr. is leaving (moving to Dallas), and i'm having to find another care provider. I've decided to go for having a midwife/birthing center experience. The FH and I will have our first meet with CNM Jackie Griggs at Bay Area Birth Center on Wednesday, and I order my Hypnobabies birth kit on the first! I'm ( Read more... )

Do you love your current doctor? I live in Dallas and would love to hear a recommendation!

I'm not sure if he's going to keep his practice open once he gets there, but he is wonderful! If he does, his name is Steven R. Edmonson, I highly recommend him to any lady.

Honestly, chances are that most drugs you'd get by heplock would only disorient you temporarily. It is not a good plan B for coping with labor. I suggest you fill yourself with good positive stories of natural birth, because you absolutely can do this! Good luck!

I agree with duchess. I opted for an epidural, but it failed and I had no other options with the stage of labor I was at. I had a very satisfying birth. Yeah, it hurt, but I honestly didn't care once I had my little girl in my arms. IT was completely worth it.

Have they got a birthing pool? Thats what I used for pain relief with my second and loved it.

They do indeed. They have showers, jacuzzis and birthing tubs, its almost set up like a huge house!

When you get into Hypnobabies you might find that a lot of the birthing language you used here will change. I'd love for you to report back if the program has changed your perspective and calmed your fears at all. I had a fairly traumatic 3rd birth and was terrified at being pregnant with #4. I went on to have an empowering and beautiful birth, the strength to have an even more amazing birth with #5 and am planning another Hypnobabies birth this summer.

Also, I second the recommendation of a pool if it's available.
