35w5d and high amniotic fluid...

Nov 18, 2010 18:46

so i posted a few days ago because i was worried about my belly not growing... well today at my midwife appointment, she said i had quite a jump in fundal height (i think she said it was about 37.5) which is totally weird and shocking to me! i've been measuring on time my entire pregnancy, and my weight has leveled off in the last few weeks. she ( Read more... )

Stop googling. My fundal height jumped later on in my pregnancy, I was measuring about a month ahead. It stayed like that for a while and then it leveled off until my actual dates caught up with measurements by the end of the pregnancy. Fluid levels were totally fine.

PUT THE GOOGLE DOWN AND NO ONE GETS HURT

Seriously. If your midwife told you not to worry, then stop worrying. What can you do about it at this point anyway? Nothing. So relax, you dont have much further to go.

I swear, we need a google-annonymous up in this community. You and Anne can be the first members. :)

You're not an idiot darlin'. We all worry. perhaps more than is good for us. Hell, I think half the purpose of this community is to post when we're worried and freaking and everyone else to tell us to calm down!!! :)

Hydramnios can be caused by things OTHER than fetal abnormalities as well darlin'. I know I have to watch out for it because of the gestational diabetes. Amniotic fluid amounts also usually PEAK at 34 weeks from what I've read, you're not much past that.

BESIDES, you wrote above that she's going to order an US to SEE if it's because of more fluid. Maybe your baby just had a growth spurt. They tend to do that.

If you're gonna freak out, at least wait til AFTER the problem is confirmed, eh? :)

And once more, PUT THE GOOGLE DOWN. And if there is a problem, we'll all be here for ya. But your midwife knows what she's doing. If she's not worried, take your cue from her. :)

Step away from the Google! My mom had a super high level of amniotic fluid (OMG her belly was giant) when she was pregnant with me. I'm totally fine.

This. My friend also had extra fluid and her baby is perfectly fine! (She was HUGE at the end though!)

see this is what weirds me out because i don't feel that big and i don't feel like i've grown in the last few weeks! my midwife said she thinks i've popped out more though so who knows.

I'm guessing that inaccurate fundal height measurement is the real issue here.

My college roommate started measuring ahead at about 30 weeks, and she kept having to go for biophysical profiles, perinatologist appointments, extra ultrasounds, higher level ultrasounds, etc. The doc was **sure** her son had some sort of kidney problem, hence the high jump in fluid. Freaked her out for the end of her pregnancy...

and there was (thankfully) not a darn thing wrong with that baby.

Hang in there. If your midwife was concerned, she'd have to refer you over to someone else. Is she's not, you're golden =)

that is definitely reassuring, hopefully my ultrasound goes well.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. At 32 weeks I was measuring 37 when I have been measuring dead on the rest of my pregnancy. I'm scheduling an ultra sound next appointment but honestly it could mean anything (I think im just having a HUGE kid really)Just don't look at google..I did the same thing and MAN i wish I hadn't

i know i feel like such an idiot for googling it! but my midwife seemed so nonchalant about it so i didn't think anything bad would come from it. even the babycenter.com article on it was scary :(

lol I know exactly which article our talking about! My doc was the same way "Wow how are you measuring 37 weeks this time and last time you were dead on?!" with a sly smile on her face. Damn her! My Midwife was all "wow that's a big jump" but im one of those people who need more information! lol
