around what time did you begin to notice you were unable to get a good, full breath? i was 25w yesterday and today it feels like i can't seem to take a full breath. my baby center update that i read today said my uterus is now the size of a volleyball!! i'm assuming that is probably why. my ribs have also been tender to the touch for the last week ( Read more... )

I dont know what to tell you about the breathing darlin'. But I also live in Northern Canada (BC) and didnt really bother with winter boots even before I got pregnant cause I hate the pair I have. Last winter (the first year I lived here) I really mostly wore my sneakers or a pair of Dr Scholl's that had no ties (they came up to about my ankles though, so they're higher than regular shoes). BUT I live in town, so if you're more rural, that may not be an option for you. :( What about getting a custom pair of mukluks? Depending on where you are, they might not be too expensive, and you can get them cut low enough on your calf to struggle in I think.

I know I cant wear my sneakers already (24w tomorrow), if we get a ton of early snow this year and my Dr Scholl's fail me, I dont know WTH I'll do about winter boots either.

Can I also just say that every time I see your icon in this community, I sit and stare at it for several minutes? lol

i'm in northern BC too! yeah i have a pair of emu (like uggs) boots but they are tall and a pain in the ass to pull on. i didn't even think about trying to find a pair of ankle type boots.. i bet i could slip those on a bit easier. i live in town too but when we get a snow dump it doesn't matter where you are there is a shit load of snow. i have a few pairs of more stylish leather flat boots but they don't even fit my feet now.. my feet are so much wider now :( i'm hoping it goes away after pregnancy and it's just swelling but somehow i doubt it. i've read the bones in your feet separate and it doesn't go back to normal.

Yeah, I've read the same thing. Honestly, I just bought myself a fresh pair of pull-on Dr Scholl's cause it's getting too cold for sandals and I definitely cant wear my sneakers anymore. I know there's a woman on Etsy who did mukluks, but I havent looked for a while. I think Backcountry sells several pairs of insulated, low pull on type shoes/boots too.

I'm in Ft St John btw. Where did you find a midwife in northern BC?? The BC College of Midwives didn't have anyone listed for north of Prince George/Quesnel, or that was the route I was going to go. As it is, I drive 3 hours into Grande Prairie, AB to see an OB there.

For winter, I got boots that were easy to slip on, but still went up at least past the ankle. We live in Chicago-area, and on occasion we can get a doozie of a snow storm. I also got some fur-lined slip-ons for quick trips when there wasn't a lot of snow. My feet were so swollen I couldn't have done anything super fitted.

I thought so! They run a little big too, so I got my regular size and even with my expanding feet, I had no trouble fitting into them all winter. I also wound up with a c-section, so it was nice when I *still* couldn't bend over b/c the incision was sore, to have the easy boots. They're also fur-lined all the way to the toes, so they're super warm!

(I used to work at Skechers, I can't tell you how many pairs of these I sold, and I wore them ALL day at work, they're SO comfortable).

I'm at 20w4d today and last night I had dreams of not being able to catch my breath. When I woke up, I was on my back and I think this means I can no longer sleep on my back. :\

Last night was the first time that I noticed it being really hard to bend over/forward. I also started showing pretty early so my guess is that you're on the right track. I haven't had trouble putting on shoes yet but now I guess I know what's coming next.

Pregnancy gets hotter and hotter every day. At least now I am over my cold so I'm not accidentally wetting myself multiple times per day like last week. :-p

No real advice, but I can certainly sympathize. I had to have my husband pull my socks on for me this morning because my ribs were bugging me and I just can't bend over with this basketball in my middle!

I'm 24 weeks and last week I had pretty bad rib pain and I was having a hard time breathing, but I think my ribcage expanded since I can breath normally now. I only get rib pain if I am sitting upright for a long time, like at the computer.
