Sep 01, 2010 19:19

I know this is a long shot, and mods feel free to delete. I'm due with my first living baby April 1, and other than SSDI benefits, I haven't had an income in over 2 years. I would like to be a work at home mom AND a student with the new baby comming, and I was wondering how many WAHM's there were here, and what you did. The only think I can think ( Read more... )

How much education do you have? What is your experience and background?

What are you going to be studying when you are a student?

In order to make a more informed decision you are going to need to provide some more information.

I wouldn't want to tell you that you could get a WAH accounting job for 30,000 part time if you didn't have the skills and degrees necessary. Get what I mean?

I have a year and a half undergrad under my belt right now, getting my associate's in 8-12 Education with teaching certifications, and getting certified in Web Design & Implementation, and Executive/Administrative Assisting & Desktop Support/Networking.

Try applying for a job with Lionbridge, under careers. It's entirely online and extremely boring and tedious, but pays well. I did it for a while before foolishly getting burned out - for $14.50/hour and 20 hours a week, hell, I should have stuck with it.

the Internet Assessors program.

When I applied they didn't require a college degree, but it may have changed since then (didn't matter for me because I did have a degree).

If you have a degree, try applying for the Internet Judge program because it pays more.

I submitted an application! Hopefully I get chosen? How does that work? How will they contact me and how long does it take? And what do you do? Do you have set hours, do it whenever you want, or what? (sorry for so many questions, but I'm just very interested in it!)

I own this:

spawnofboredomcreations.com

It's kind of hit and miss, but if you have any creative abilty/craft skills - I'm sure you could make something.

Hi! I work from home. We are a blended family, with 4 kids between the ages of 11 and 18. My oldest stepson has special needs, and we are expecting our first together December 30. I've tried several different things, but what works best for me, and gives me the flexibility I need, is freelance writing. I produce internet content for 2 private clients and 3 content brokers. I like the fact that I have anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days
to finish my work, so if I have to stay up late or get up early to do it, it's okay.

A lot of it is very simple, if you're interested, look here:
http://www.wahm.com/forum/wahms-who-write-46/

There's a ton of info, job referrals, etc. One piece of sdvice, never pay for a job, materials, training, etc. In fact, never pay anything except for the very rare background check, and research that closely first. What I produce won't win me a Pulitzer, but some of it is pretty intersting. Good luck!
