This is probably a really dumb question to ask, but I'm curious. I keep hearing that babies tend to be born somewhat nocturnal because the movement of mom during the day puts them to sleep and the resting at night wakes them up

My lil one barely does anything all day while im at work (combination of walking and sitting) but past 7-8pm she pulls ninja in there lol I keep thinking "Oh man this kid is going to keep me up all night, isnt she?!" lol I feel her all night before I go to bed and she sometimes kicks me hard enough to wake me up for a second in the middle of the night. So, Im thinking Im going to have some long nights ahead of me lol
Both my kids were really active at night, but both of them got their days and nights sorted out by two weeks of age. They weren't sleeping through the whole night or anything, but they were doing the majority of their sleeping during night hours. My daughter was just born 7/31 and she's a good nighttime sleeper. She'll sleep for 3-4 hours, wake up to nurse and go right back to sleep.
I worked 11p-7a at a hospital when I was pregnant, and when my daughter was born she didn't really have a set sleeping schedule for the first 3-4 weeks, but after that she settled into sleeping 8pm-6am.
for us, the first 3-5 weeks were just completely random. sometimes she'd sleep all day, AND all night. Sometimes she'd be awake all day, AND ALL NIGHT (those were fun times). Usually it was random naps lasting 20 minutes to 4 hours, followed by random awake time with similar characteristics. Anyway, studies suggest that babies use the light/dark patterns of the world to figure out what nighttime is, and we definitely saw that, we used no strategies to make her stay asleep at night or awake in the day but she naturally just started drifting that direction
