Sorry to post again so soon, but I'm curious.

If you gave birth in a hospital, how long from the birth of the baby was it until you were released?

Where are you from?

(My mother is trying to tell me that depending on where you live, some hospitals will kick you out just a few hours after baby is born, and I'm having trouble believing this.)

hospitals, post partum

In aus if everything is fine and everybody is awake it is only a few hours...most mothers want to leave

My mum was stuck is hospital as she had a c section with both me and my brother, a couple of days with me. A week with my brother

Yeah. I'm in NSW and giving birth in a birth centre which is attached to a hospital. We go home after 4 hours, 6 hours if there is an issue :)

My hospital is 2 days for a vaginal delivery and 3 for a C-section, not counting the day you deliver.

Natural birth in a hospital in Seattle.

I had my daughter at 3AM Thursday morning and was discharged at 3PM on Friday afternoon, so a total of 36 hours there. I had wanted to stay another night, and go home on Saturday morning, but they were pretty pushy about getting me out Friday afternoon.

I'm a birth doula and I've never heard of anyone being kicked out a few hours after birth.

Not kicked out, but at my hospital in Ontario you can leave 4 hours after birth if everything is going fine.

I gave birth at 9:11pm on Saturday, by 7am Sunday they said I could leave since my preemie was sent away to a different hospital. I, however, opted to stay one more day as I was bleeding way too much to want to go home and ruin all my stuff. I live in Ohio.

Northern california, I spent less than 24 hours in the hospital. I would have left four hours after my baby was born, but we had to wait for another eight hours for some paperwork. Barring complications, I don't get why people would want to stay there longer, unless their hospitals are way nicer than the ones I've been in.

Which hospital did you have your baby at? I'm in San Francisco and will be giving birth at Kaiser.
I really hope to get out of there as quickly as possible because I hate hospitals.
