Postpartum question

May 11, 2010 19:29

I'm 4 1/2 weeks pp. I was over weight to begin with (by 35 lbs) and gained another 40 lbs while pregnant. I've lost 15 lbs and have 25 lbs to go to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I took my engagement/wedding ring (they are soldered together)off due to swelling at 28 weeks. I've tried my ring on a few times since I had my baby and I can't get ( Read more... )

Before pregnancy, my ring size was a 5.75 (I am also overweight, by at least 100 lbs, but my fingers are tiny - go figure). During my pregnancy, I took my wedding rings off because of swelling as well, at around 30 weeks. Now, 19 month pp and at a weight where they once fit - I can't wear my other rings on my right hand, but I can wear my wedding rings on my left. It's so strange. It's like my right hand changed ring sizes on me. Idgi.

I swear everything in me has changed sizes!

I think I remember you from the WW communities (I use a different lj for them though).

I'm below my pre preg weight and still can't get my rings back on. It's like my fingers permanently changed. BTW my son is 7 months old now!

Oh grr that sucks. I sure hope that's not the case. I love my rings and miss them. :( Only jewelry I really wear.

I took mine off about the same gestation, and finally got it back on at about 10-11 weeks PP I think. When I did take it off, I had a nice little indentation on my finger (thanks to pre-preg weight gain) that went completely away by the time I had my son, which I think was a big part of it, but I think the water retention was definitely a factor. Hopefully it fits soon!

I think I might be retaining a little water still. I know several people who had to get their rings cut off during pregnancy because they waited too long to take them off. It seriously feels like my knuckle is bigger or something... hopefully I can get them on eventually. Glad I'm not the only one this has happened to!

It was a few months before I could put mine back on! And then I didn't wear my engagement ring (my wedding band and engagement band are seperate) for a good year because I was terrified of scratching DS's eye or something with the solitaire.

It's probably still water weight.

After my second baby I had to get them resized though. :(

Sorry for the invasive question.... had your fingers just changed or did you still have weight to lose when you got them resized?

I think a little of both. Mostly the weight probably, but I did also have to get rid of most of my shoes, my feet got bigger too after that second one.

I've heard of the feet getting bigger from other mama's!
