she... can't force you to induce, if you dont want to, just dont go in. when you do eventually go into labor they *have* to treat you at the hospital...

If you don't show up for your induction what are they going to do?

Why do they want to induce so soon after your due date? Just wondering b/c some doctors will let you go a week or two.

and some really kick ass midwives wont even mention using herbal/natural induction methods until 42 weeks...

well she said "it looks like this baby hasnt missed too many meals" so she doesnt want the baby to get too big I guess.

In a normal pregnancy, a baby typically won't get "too big". Also, your weight gain has almost nothing to do with baby's weight. My anectdata: With my first, I gained well over 50 pounds. My son was 8 lbs 13 oz and a week and a day past his EDD. IMHO, your doc is just grasping for a reason to induce so she won't have to work during the holidays :/

This is your first baby, right? Why would they insist on inducing when you'd only be 3 days past your edd? Due dates are an estimate for a reason...there is a huge window of time that's considered "normal." My first was 12 days "late." Barring any health complications with you or baby, I wouldn't let them induce you so soon past your edd if baby hasn't arrived by then. Good luck to you!

lol. If they asked me to show up at the hospital at 5am they'd have to "induce" me awake as well! I'd just tell them you're not going to show up (as a courtesy, although it doesn't sound like they're giving you the same courtesy in return). What are they going to do, go to your house and get you out of bed to take you to the hospital?

"We shall call the authorities and have you arrested on temporary insanity!!"

god, i'm so not for pre-planned inductions with no medical necessity. :/

You'd think the insurance companies would jump on docs for them since they sometimes end in increased medical costs (i.e. c-sections).
