achyness after sleeping...

Hello all!  I'm now 7 weeks pregnant with my second child, my first is 10 months.  For a couple of months now, my hips/lower back has been getting INCREDIBLY achy after sleeping for a couple of hours.  I sleep with a pillow between my legs on my side, or semi on my stomach with the pillow at my side and that leg draped over it.  It gets so bad that ( Read more... )

Not much advice, but sympathy- my spacing was almost identical (got pregnant with #2 when #1 was about 8-9 months old). It's rough especially chasing the increasingly mobile "big kid"!

I never had insomnia, though I don't sleep WELL, and all my doctor said was to take Benadryl before bed to sleep more soundly.

I can also guess that the hip pains will only get worse. Mine have been awful during this pregnancy (I'm now almost 8 months), where I never had issues when I was pregnant before, and the doctor said one reason for it was the close spacing- apparently my ligaments didn't have time to come back to full strength, or something of the sort. I have to sleep the same way and it's miserable right now.

BUT- it got way better after first trimester with the fatigue and my second pregnancy has been overall better, just because I have my little girl to entertain me, keep me moving around even when I don't feel like it, and remind me there's a reward at the end.

I am about 9 weeks along and I too have been experiencing back pain and hip pain. I would try sleeping in a different position. Sleeping flat on my back has really helped me.

Ugh, I wish I knew! My hips can hurt so bad in the morning. And I can't sleep on my back anymore because it makes me sick.

I find it helps to do some calf stretches just before bed. Sometimes i can't sleep because my legs are restless, but the streching really helps.

Don't know how helpful this is, but I find that I sleep much better and more comfortably after my husband gets up so perhaps try and get in a few hours after he rises? I have pretty bad hip, leg, and lower back pains and it usually just disappears when he gets up. We're TTC #2 right now, but I've had this kind of pain since #1.

The position you described sometimes works for me, but I need to have a pillow behind my back as well for support. They also have big wraparound body pillows.. I plan to buy one once we conceive.

I did try one of those big pillows when I was pg with #1....I HATED IT! It was too big and bulky and made me hot and it was impossible to turn over with. Thanks for the suggestion though...
