Subchorionic hematoma?

Sep 12, 2007 21:00

About a month ago I started to bleed at almost 11 weeks along.  I started off with spotting... that turned to HEAVY bleeding.  Like dripping down my legs, heavier than my period.  I had 4 ultraounds, all confirmed that the baby was fine,  but could not really determine what or why I was bleeding... only that there was a slight bleed near my cervix ( Read more... )

I don't know if it was for the same reason - I don't think she was ever actually /told/ what was going on - but my mother started bleeding at some point during her pregnancy (she doesn't remember exactly when, but that it was towards the beginning) and was put on bedrest. 32 years later, here I am.

I wish you luck and strength!

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. I bled a couple days a month for 2 months with no apparent reason. They would check the baby and everything would be fine so they would send me home. One day around 14 weeks I woke up to a pool of blood in my underwear and on the bed. I freaked out and ended up at the ER and later the Maternal/Fetal center for a level 2 ultrasound. They ended up finding a Subchorionic Hematoma between my uterus and my placenta. I was placed on as little activity as possible and didn't leave the house for like a week at all. I have had no symptoms since then and I am 20 weeks tomorrow so it's been 6 weeks. I have another ultrasound tomorrow (the big one!!!!) and I'm sure they are going to check that area over again. I would say take it easy and no lifting or bending. It will heal itself. Good luck! :D

Hi,

My bleeding wasn't that intense, but I had (have?) a SCH that made me bleed for a day at 9w4d and then spot for the next five weeks. However (knock wood), it seems to have stopped--about a week with no spotting at all now. My guess is that the SCH drained and was reabsorbed, as 60-70 percent do. But I'll find out on Monday when I have an u/s for the amnio.

I was really, really scared at first, and there is a higher chance of miscarriage with SCHs, but somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of all SCHs resolve on their own--no reason to believe that yours won't.

I know how hard it is not to think of the worst. I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy. But it is more likely that everything will be okay than not. Really.

Good luck.

I bled like crazy (completely soaked a pad in about 1/2 hour) at 11 weeks, it lightened up the next day, and I spotted on and off for the next two weeks... since I was having a homebirth, I didn't have it checked or anything. was basically told if it was a miscarriage there was no way to stop it... anyway, the baby was born a healthy 9 lb 9 oz, ON his due date! he's 2 now and doing fine, though I do wish he'd talk more ;)
