That depends on the nature of the bet in question.

I bet you can't get us finishing that ship by midnight, but if you do you get to board.

This sounds suspiciously like a thinly-veiled attempt at extorting labour from among the inmates.

Your worthy vessel? What are you expecting? To float in luxury?

I'll settle for floating in general.

You're making an exception? I guess times really are getting bleak.

Sacrifices must be made when the end of the world is nigh.

... It's not original?

[Bible is what?]

It's a reference to a religious story. Mankind is sinful and worthy of destruction, so the deity in question floods the earth to drown them all, reserving only a select few on a massive wooden ark.

Supposedly, this is also why we don't have unicorns anymore.

No kirin...

I doubt it will turn out well...

Right, because the guy in charge of bringing all the animals on the boat couldn't get the unicorns to come on. So they drowned.

Are you coming on the boat?

I don't think they'll make us turn back if we forget it.

And yet it would be such a shame to disappoint the Ontario Provincial Police with such a flagrant oversight in procedure.

And I guess we might end up needing it, with a flood and all. Is there going to be time to pack food or anything, considering that people are just building the boat today?

The quartermaster of the vessel indicated that construction should be done by midnight. Given the nature of events in this place, I'd say we only have until then. I suggest we pack in a hurry.

Maybe they'll get a sense of humor and allow the ship to be crafted from giant Styrofoam cut-outs.

It would certainly ease the difficulties of construction.

True but then you have to wonder about how much damage it would be able to take if this flood is going to have a bunch of debris swirling around in it.

Assuming they allowed for that method of construction, I would wonder if drowning us all wasn't their plan all along.
