Back in LJ land & fandom stuff

Goodness gracious, I've last been here in 2009! Well, I'm here again, even though I probably have no friends left. ;-)

Why am I here now? Honestly, I don't know. I guess I'm tired of Facebook where the people I know face to face don't share my interests or fandoms, and frankly, I like squeeing. <3 I want to immerse myself in fandoms again and squee

Wow, it sure is a surprise to see you posting here, lol...I had more or less given up on ever seeing you around these parts again! Welcome back. :) So you left because of FB originally?

Downtown Abbey is wonderful! :). I also caught up on s2 recently, in time to watch the Xmas special the other night...<333 Who are your favorites, etc? :) My OTP is Matthew/Mary, and my favorite character is Edith (my heart breaks for the poor girl, and I love how she's developed the past season).

Merlin...eh. I loved season 1, but these days the show mostly just makes me want to pull my hair out, it's really not the show it set out to be originally, and the characterization continuity/development is the worst. :( How far have you watched?

I guess I was just kind of burned in the fandom, and I was studying and all kinds of RL stuff that became a bit overwhelming. I'm very glad to have found my way back here, although most of my F-list seems to have disappeared or become inactive, so I need to find some new hangouts. :-)

Downton Abbey is strange in that I'm totally addicted, but I don't think I have any passionate ships there...it's lacking in young male characters! ;-) I can see Matthew/Mary, but I don't much like Mary, so that's a problem, lol. I like Edith a lot, too, and my heart just broke for her in the first season when she lost Sir Anthony Strallan. I just hope there's some happiness for her in the future. Oh, and the Dowager Countess is my absolute favorite! :-D

I've watched only three episodes of Merlin so far, and I do think it has its moments, but I'm not too enthusiastic yet. I think Merlin and Gwen are lovely, though.

Did you ever watch Lost, btw? If so what are your ships there?

Yeah, a lot of people migrated to Tumblr and abandoned LJ in the last year or so, plus many have gotten fed up with LJ's frequent downtime due to DDoS attacks. I've had to refresh my flist myself.

Aw, you don't like Mary? I didn't at first, but I do now, I can understand her for the most part, aside from how mean she is to Edith. I'm glad you like Edith too though! (She gets a lot of hate in fandom). Yes that was so sad, though I hope it might not be over with AS yet...and yes, Violet is the best/HBIC! ;)

I don't think Merlin became good until epp 5 or so, and REALLY good until epp 7. My favorite was always Morgana, unfortunately for me...

No, I've only seen the first 3 epps of Lost, someday I'll get around to it!

Ooh, I hope you'll see more of Lost soon, it totally hooked me! I'd be interested to hear which one of the two major Lost ships you'd choose. :-)

I'll continue to watch Merlin, hopefully it'll pick up soon.

I can see that Mary does love Matthew deeply and things are difficult for her, but I just am not into these "tough" girl types. I liked Lavinia more. I hope they release the Christmas special on DVD soon! Btw, have you seen Cranford and Lark Rise to Candleford? I'm a big fan of both.
