Back in LJ land & fandom stuff
Goodness gracious, I've last been here in 2009! Well, I'm here again, even though I probably have no friends left. ;-)
Why am I here now? Honestly, I don't know. I guess I'm tired of Facebook where the people I know face to face don't share my interests or fandoms, and frankly, I like squeeing. <3 I want to immerse myself in fandoms again and squee and theorize and whatnot.
So, where are things right now? Lessee...
1. Still love Harry Potter.
Still ship my ships rabidly, and still love Snape. I haven't seen the last movie, though, because none of my friends are HP fans, and I didn't want to see it with someone who'd be lukewarm about it. To be honest, its been hard watching these last Potter films because I've been so emotionally invested in the saga and because I've been so emotionally invested in Ron/Hermione which, imo, has been butchered in the movies. That said, I have watched the premieres live online, and I have a new love in the HP film world: Bill Weasley. Domhnall Gleeson is <3.
I got the DVD of DH part 2 this Christmas, and one day soon I plan to set aside some hours and a pile of hankies and watch it. Oh, and I got Lego HP years 1-4 for Wii for this Christmas and I've loved playing it despite the occasional use of Ron as a comic relief.
As for fanfics, I'm still getting reviews and requests to continue my fanfics, which I'm so, so honored about, but at the moment my original fiction is my priority. I have an editor at a major publishing house (in my country) interested and I'm doing a rewrite for her now. Having a bit of a hard time with it, though; I work as a primary school teacher nowadays and it's so exhausting that I'm having a hard time concentrating on any "mental" activities.
2. Other and new fandoms
I recently watched PoTC On Stranger Tides and it kindled my love for Captain Jack again. Seriously, that man is one of the best characters ever (although I don't ship him with Elizabeth - I think he's better suited with Angelica). It also made me buy Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, which was cool (I've played it through once, but I don't even have 50% yet).
Also, I watched the second season of Downton Abbey this Christmas. Love it and can't wait to see the Christmas special.
Right now I'm watching the first season of Merlin on DVD. Don't know what I think about it yet, seems a bit too modern for the time period it's portraying, even though it is supposed to be fantasy. I think Merlin's "eye magic" is quite a cool invention, though. And I definitely ship Merlin/Gwen! :-)
Also, Lost. Was I a Lostie last time I was here? Can't remember, but now I am, majorly. My special loves are Sawyer and Sayid, and I'm an absolutely rabidly diehard Sawyer/Kate shipper - to such an extent I'd say it's right next to my HP ships. With that, too, I've been having a hard time letting go - I've only recently bought the last season on DVD and I haven't watched it yet. Besides, as a Skater I love the earlier seasons best anyway.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to renewing old aquaintances (that is, if anyone remembers me any more:-) and making new ones. That said, I'm off to find some new comms to join...
