Don't forget about
Tropes Sue Week either. I'm looking for help finding entries for said week. I'm also looking for some feedback on
this.
There was a filler one-shot on the list next, so I moved onto this particular one-shot. I was kind of hoping the story would be a link of the day rather then a featured story.

All his life, he's been compared to his uncle, but Hogwarts holds the opportunity he's been waiting for: to become his own person, independent of his namesake. One-shot. Written for QLFC, season three, round eight.
Rated: Fiction K+ - English - Hurt/Comfort/Family - George W., Roxanne W., Fred W. II - Words:”
FULL NAME: Fred Weasley the II
SPECIES: spoiled brat
HAIR: n/a
EYES: n/a
MARKINGS: n/a
POSSESSIONS: na
CONNECTION TO CANON: Fred is worried about living up to his uncles reputation. He starts of with major angst over that issue, and then he moves on to having angst about Rozanne being a cry baby as “this was all little sisters were good for: crying and trouble.” He also has angst about how the Burrow is boring. Fred then angst some more after releasing a spider with his sister because “grandma smiled, but it wasn't a real smile. Not like Roxanne's. Freddie always hated it when people smiled at him like that, because it always meant they were thinking of the other Fred. No, the real Fred. He was the other Fred.” He then has angst over the “Battle f Hogwarts Memorial” because “no one would even say his name on May 2n because t was too painful for them. For that one day a year, both Fred Weasleys died, but at least one was remembered.” He does something special, and receives praise. Despite this “Freddie smiled because that's what he was expected to do, but he really wanted to cry. Even after everything, even after all the trouble he went through, Dad couldn't bear to say his name.” (WTF!) He then becomes happy because he doesn't have to share Slytherin colors with anybody else.
ORIGIN: The story is written for some challenge, but I honestly don't have clue what said challenge is. He ends up sorted into Slytherin. (Not a problem.)
SPECIAL ABILITIES: “The teachers all knew Fred Weasley-- the Fred Weasley, the one he'd never live up to. Freddie could see it in their eyes, the way they glossed over whenever they heard hs name.
NOTES: One of the things I liked about this story was the fact the second Fred liked being called Freddie, and I liked how he was sorted into Slytherin. The problem with this particular story lies in the fact Fred didn't have a good reputation, and yet Fred the II is worried about living up to his uncles name. We're also told that Fred the II is struggling with a particular insecurity issue, but instead of showing us a character who is actually being overlooked we see a spoiled brat who is inconsiderate of other people's feelings.
I almost gave this a bad rating, and then I got to the part where Fred is complaining about his little sister like any spoiled brat does. I then almost gave this an awful rating, but then came to the line “grandma smiled, but it wasn't a real smile. Not like Roxanne's. Freddie always hated it when people smiled at him like that, because it always meant they were thinking of the other Fred. No, the real Fred. He was the other Fred.” I can't shake how much of a brat this Fred is.
How to explain what exactly is going through my head? The fact Freddie reminds his family of his uncle is actually a good thing. There is also no sign of his family placing any pressure on him to be a replacement for his uncle. The writer wants me to pity the character as well as find him a likable character, but unfortunately I can't as all he's doing is throwing a tantrum over something trivial and nonexistent.
SAMPLE:
Hogwarts was supposed to be an escape, a way to break free from the assumptions and expectations, but Freddie was beginning to think that wasn't the case. The teachers all knew Fred Weasley-the Fred Weasley, the one he'd never live up to. Freddie could see it in their eyes, the way they glossed over whenever they heard his name.
That's why he dreaded hearing it aloud at the Sorting Ceremony. There was no avoiding it; there was no hiding it.
"Weasley, Fred."
The room went quiet as Freddie stepped forward, and there was a heaviness in the pit of his stomach. The professors were looking at him that way again. The same way all the adults did when they heard his name. They didn't care about him. He was just a figurehead of sorts. All he ever would amount to was a reminder of what everyone had lost and what they could never regain again.
Freddie swallowed the bile that rose in the back of his throat as he stepped up to the stool and sat down. Everyone's eyes were on him. He hated being the center of attention, so he was thankful when the old, leather hat slipped down over his eyes.
Another Weasley, hm? I shouldn't be surprised by now. Another Fred Weasley, no less. Why, I remember your father and uncle well. Both Gryffindors. Are you a Gryffindor?
Please, anything but Gryffindor!
Freddie gritted his teeth and gripped the edge of the stool tightly. He couldn't stand the thought of being a Gryffindor, even if Dad told him that's what he should be, what all the Weasleys were. He knew what Dad meant: that's what Uncle Fred had been. It was just one more way for him to fit in the perfect Fred Weasley mold. But it wasn't what he wanted. He just wanted to be himself.
Not Gryffindor, hm? Well, let's take a look, shall we?
