The writing in this story is very, very annoying. Not to mention extremely bad. All those: *gasp*, *Punch*, *Groans* makes me want to groan- and all those information dumps make me want to cringe. In order to tell a good story, you need to show and not tell. Not only do you have to have those words to live by, but these ones as well: In order to tell a good fanfiction story, you must ensure that things make sense to the canon of the story ( ... )

Not a self insert? The fact they both admit that the OCs are cooler then themselves is proof enough and then we have the ridiculous back stories. Seriously... those kind of back stories are A-typical of self-inserts because the writers are trying to make themselves uber cool.

They seem to be under the impression that if you give your self-insert cool powers, they're no longer a self-insert.

It reminds me of when I was in the Tenchi fandom, and the amount of uber-powered self-inserts was so ridiculous, I started to write an actual self-insert (although I ended up using Love Hina). I never got far enough to publish it, but the only ability my fic!self had that I didn't was the ability to speak Japanese (although he was very poor at Kanji, and the other characters would at some point comment on the fact that he tended to write notes entirlely in Hiragana, like a child). He also wasn't going to end up with any of my preferred girls. Kitsune would hit on fic!me a lot, because I get flustered easily, and she'd enjoy it. I also had some vague plans on having Naru ask fic!me out on New Years, but it would be very obvious to the reader that she was only doing it because she was mad at Keitaro.

They were under that impression. Hopefully after repeating myself twice to them it's gotten through their head that this isn't true. They're mad at me right now because I had nothing positive to say in my review or my PMs. One of the stories you can't really praise are ones that are so toxic it isn't funny. The other kind are parasite sues.

Which these characters are parasite sues. Pottersues should add the tag. I mean... it just follows the regular story. One of the characters takes over the role of doing a patronus and later on one of the characters makes it so Draco doesn't get hurt by Buckbeak.

I'll also admit that I've been blunt to the point of telling them to scratch this project all together and write something else. I mean... the story is eight chapters in and it is just the plot to Harry Potter with their characters tossed in. That's not really writing.
