Gotta give her credit somewhere... thessalian April 30 2003, 11:38:27 UTC
She has the innate ability to make the eyes bleed and the brain bubble with a minimum number of sentences.

Sounds to me like begging for similar feedback. "I gave your fic a nice review, so please do the same for me!"

I really, really loathe the mindset that states that the thing that determines a fanfic's quality and worth is the amount of reviews it has.

Am i the only one who actually percieves Cho as being very Mary Sue-ish? I mean she's this exceptionally pretty, popular, perfect girl the lead has a crush on whom we know a whole lot of bog all about. Sounds like most Mary Sues to me.

Having said that i do like my cannon and as much as i don't give a monkeys about the characterless Cho i will say i have never disrepected her in my work and that if she is set against the Mary Sues along with poor Hermione who has also suffered then i will never say another bad word about her.

I don't know, I don't see Cho as Sue-ish at all. She may be idealized in the descriptions we do see of her, as Harry has a crush, but she's not warping the space-time continuum of the story around her. She's good at what we've seen her at, but I don't think we've seen enough to say if she's a Sue or not. The Sues I tend to see, we know WAY too much about, and way too quickly, because it gives them angst rights, preening privileges, or what have you. I've seen Cho cry after Cedric died, but that's not angst, and I haven't really seen her preening in the books. She seems like just a nice, attractive, atheletic person. That's fine. Not all nice, attractive, athletic girls/young women are Sues.

Of course, she could kill puppies in her spare time, but again, I don't think we know enough about her to say.

I have to agree with you on this one. Cho has Sue traits, but isn't a Sue because of the way the traits are presented.

That's a damn good point! She's also suffered--her boyfriend was killed by Voldemort, which is also connection to Canon--and she cries a lot for a very real, but still overdramatic, reason. She is pretty, popular, smart, very good at Quidditch, makes Harry weak at the knees...I WONDERED why I hated her so much--you've helped me see the light! Lol my brain has been awake for faaaar too long, it's 3:30 AM and I need sleep...so ignore this it's random.

Hmm, i see your point. I admit i do find her annoying in some ways, and not because (as i am often accused of being) i'm a H/G shipper. In fact i'm not a Harry shipper with anyone (unless it's Draco *eg*). Having said that i think the Cho bashing in fanfiction is very sad and petty.

*Sigh* Mary Sues are corrupting my opinions now. See, they are the root of all evil!

Amy narrowed her eyes at him. "We'll see about that," she said as she pushed him, and he hit the outside wall of the castle. He tried to move, but found himself held in place by Amy's high-heeled shoe on her foot. He tried to move, but the shoe was very sharp.

All right ... she's just come to Hogwarts, am I right? I couldn't much discern from that fabulously DETAILED introduction she gave us. Anyway, I'm going to assume so since she was Sorted. That would make her 11. Mmm hmm. Yep. What in the frickity frack is an eleven year old girl doing wearing high heels?

SilverRose12: Whatever. By the way, people, any flames will be used to burn Cjo Chang.

Evil Authoress: YEAH! THAT HOE!

Why oh why did she just call Cho a garden utensil? ::sighs::

She didn't call Cho a garden utensil, she called "Cjo" one.
