Don’t forget about the first bi-annual Pottersues Contest which is replacing the old annual Pottersues Contest. The theme for said contest is Gamer Fic. Since Gamer Fic is a rather new concept in fanfic, I’ve added links to three entries which feature a Gamer Fic. I’m also working on a list of common traits we find in Sue stories which make them ( Read more... )

I don’t use a beta because I’m painfully shy. But I do proofread my work three or four times over the course of a week minimum before I post stuff. There are still mistakes, of course, and fully admit to not using a beta. This person uses one, which is good, but it would be better if they had one that knew what a sentence fragment looks like. A beta couldn’t (and perhaps shouldn’t) fix the dreadfully beige prose here, but they should at least be able to make all the sentences complete. Urgh. I don’t think I could read more than a chapter of this even if it was updated weekly.

I think that the toxic rating is appropriate for this story. It seems that the OC has the best of two worlds without really working hard for it. The scene where she proves her worth for Drogo, for example, is especially cringe worthy and unrealistic.

Sometimes, I don't understand the point of crossovers. Especially crossovers that have two very different story lines and rules that are not fully addressed in the fic.

Also, I am not sure that Draco would have thrown the word Mudblood at a girl that is from a pureblood family. He would have maybe accused her of being a blood traitor, especially if she was on Harry's side and fighting Voldemort. However, the word Mudblood wouldn't have been used unless the OC was from muggle blood. As for the other canon being portrayed in this story- it was a few years since I read the series, but I am sure that A Song of Ice and Fire canon is entirely separate from the Harry Potter canon. Shouldn't the author acknowledge that there are differences and try to go about trying to explore these canonical

"This writer’s other stories uses the summary to include author’s notes as well."

I was already guessing that this writer is the one who deleted their story because another writer decided to pull a "Sal", yet this right here tells me the trouble goes farther as all of her stories are deleted.

One thing the Harry Potter canon establishes is training a Dragon is against the law. Even the one at the bank wasn't trained. No, in the Harry Potter universe who've got trainers. Writers also make the Peverell line too special, yet Harry doesn't know this cousin either.
