The fact none of the characters are bothered by what they're doing is definitely sad.

Making ones dream into an actual fanfic honestly almost always ends up a failure. Mind you, I've done this with maybe one of the dreams I had because I could easily make it into a story which worked, but a lot of them either weren't something which made a good story or involved some personal wish fulfillment on my part which would have come across heavy handed. The writers personal wish fulfillment is obvious in this one.
