A long time ago I figured out the reason. When the writer sticks this close to the canon to the point of nearly plagiarizing the source material or actually plagiarizing it, it is easy for them to produce and update fast. In the same regard anyone reading this type of story has already read the plot and is only skim reading for the changes made. They're not actually writing or reading though.
