Yeah, I'm not touching this with any-foot poles. The reviews are either as confusing or talk about how it's confusing. I'm not quite sure how to argue AUs in Naruto, given how bad it sets an example for itself. Just look at Road to Ninja.

Naruto's also a Gary Stu, but my understanding is the rule of thumb is when the fandom itself gives a bad example, don't mimic what the fandom does, but learn what not to do.

I actually go AU in a lot of my Naruto fics, because I'm having to fix the canon material.

While I completely agree, I feel like people are more willing to believe what they're enjoying is the 'correct' rather than accept a third party comment that says otherwise. It's like trying to explain to a kid that candy's bad for them when their parents keep buying them more.

Agreed. That describes the latest writer to find their story here - though technically they found it around a year ago. They put so little effort into their story, I honestly suspected the writer was a Troll, which is never good.

I hate these kind of stories. I don't understand why people like them, particularly when the story is so laden down with prose. I mean, the character's super amazing, with no flaws, but then again, the writer and reader are likely at their self-insertion phase, and want to be that perfect character. Later on, not so much. It's the type of fic readers don't come back to once they grow out of this phase.
