I remember in a HP site, in the comments (that I stopped reading because I have often wanted to hit something when it happens) after the first official photo of Draco in the Prisonner of Azkaban, how the fangirls cried and shouted and wailed that the stupid filmmaker didn't read the books because they changed Draco hairdo and stop the gel ( Read more... )

A lot of things from the first two films became 'canon' in a lot of fans' minds. It meant that the differences in the third film were all called 'wrong' at some point. Some people would swear that they could prove the wrongness of it all with passages from the books (that they couldn't find at the moment but were definitely there, honest!). I really do think that most of the 'wrongness' people find with the new Dumbledore really just amounts to 'But I've got used to the old one now!'.

You can see all the points that have been given or taken in canon right here. Not only does Snape not take points from Gryffindor by the truck load, he has never given a single point in canon so far. So the whole 'Snape awards Draco 50 trillion points for ass kissing' is also completely fanon.
