Yeah, the lieutenant bit pissed me off too. It's just the way the letters looked back then. The old lowercase s looks like a modern-day f, but that doesn't mean they put S in the place of F.

Okay, so Lieutenant is pronounced "Lieftenant", and with a British accent, that might sound to you like "lievtenant" but hearing DOES NOT = spelling. It's lieutenant. And in your fic where your characters are referring to their fathers as "Dad" you have no right to claim anything about the "17th century". Neither God nor man has the power to alter this. /Javert

I do possess the hourglass figure coveted amongst 18th-century women, and while I am not overweight by any stretch of the imagination, I would love to see a Suethor try to describe my figure as skinny. Large breasts, a tiny waist, and large hips tend to make even a small girl like me look very weighty. Mayhap I shall have to tell dear Suethor this.
