looking to make landfall in South America
Can anyone help me with this? I'm trying to write some Jack backstory and I need places in South America where a British ship (non navy) could plausibly put in. I looks to me as though everywhere is either Spanish or Portuguese (or uncolonised), but I'm guessing the more commercial ports wouldn't be hostile to merchant ships of other

If you can figure out how to disable your popup blocker (which'll make you smarter than me), you can view some large maps of South America. Aside from that, I don't know anything, but your reasoning seems sound.

BTW, I couldn't disable the popup blocker, but I married a man who can. This is what to do if you use firefox:
Go to tools, options, then content
Tick the box for "Block popups - exceptions
Enter "www.davidrumsey.com and click allow.
Shazzam! Popups still blocked for all other sites, but maps appear when I click.
