Finding the Isla de Muerta

Oct 03, 2007 22:05

Sorry, yet another question from me!

How did Jack get hold of the bearings for the Isla de Muerta?

If it's an island that cannot be found, except by those who already know where it is, how did Jack become someone who already knew where it was?

Did he have his magic compass at this point?

Any ideas?

Thanks

In a land of walking skeletons, ship-eating monsters and returning dead, obtaining some bearings hardly seems a monstrous task.

On the other hand, never doubt the skills of Jack Sparrow when he's seeking what he wants. Perhaps the bearings were given by Tia Dalma as part of the deal for the compass, for which Jack promised in return to summon the Brethern Court and free her--which he seems to have renigged on....no surprise there.

Only my humble offering. There are those with a better imagination than I.......Kerry

We know he got the compass from Tia Dalma, so my theory is that he knew the legend of the gold (and not the curse, or else he didn't believe it), and then sought the compass out so that it would point to what he wanted most. Once he got there, he could find his way back ( ... )

That's interesting, that's veeeery interesting...the bearings not being dependent upon the compass clears things up a lot. Sounds plausible to me!

There's not much in canon or fic about exactly how, where, when, and why the current Pirate Lords are so called...very interesting indeed! You've got me pondering for my own fic :)
