I found these while researching ships' decks.

This site has information about tactics, sails, copper sheathing, etc. It may be a pop-up heavy, though.

This cute little story works in a lot of sailing terms, which you can click for a definition. The time period is a little late, but it probably still works for POTC

I'd say the Pearl has a poop deck - Wikipedia says that poop deck is where there's a cabin underneath, and that certainly fits for the Pearl.

Thanks for posting those links. :-) I'm going with both quarterdeck and poop deck - the first site says that the quarterdeck can include the poop deck. Besides, the PotC Visual Guide calls it a quarterdeck. *g*

I didn't know that about the Visual Guide - thanks! It's silly of me, but I just don't care for the term poop deck. However appropriate it might be, I thought it would break the mood of my story.
